Studying Media Distribution
Looking back on 2021, we are grateful for what we have been able to do (in spite of the Covid lockdown, which lasted most of the year). We released the Thai Children's Hymnal app while the new Love for Asia TV Studio building project was being completed. The LFA media team increased their rate of posting videos on their Facebook pages, and as soon as the TV Studio was built they began a weekly TV program.
One of the challenges in this country is distributing the gospel media in the best way for the Thai culture. Daniel and I have been researching more methods of distributing media (printed literature, videos, more hymnal apps in other languages, etc.). For example, there's a new method of online literature evangelism (christian book selling), using an app/website similar to the popular Thai shopping apps. With only 1.3% of Thailand's people professing Christianity, it seems that the distribution of materials is needing some extra thought and effort.
I'm hoping learning how to read and speak better in Thai will eventually allow me to help make Sabbath School videos for kids in the Thai language. With my current low level of ability in Thai it's daunting, but maybe my attempt will inspire someone more qualified. Or perhaps we will locate some materials already created, and be able to distribute them.
Speaking of distributing materials, a Christian ministry in Chiang Mai donated several boxes of "101 Bible Stories" books (120 each in English and Thai) through my Thai teacher, Khruu Ooy. They are children's books, but they are also a great introduction to the Bible for new believers in Thailand. So far, I have enjoyed giving away 80 of them.
Transition Upcoming in 2022
We have another big change coming next year which will have us in the USA more often, but we are still continuing our Thailand Gospel Media Project! I will write more about that later as we gather our thoughts and plans. Keep us in prayers, write to us if you like, and donate if you feel called to do so. (I put the donation link in a new spot, at the bottom of the email).
Blessings to you all!
Tesha & Daniel Bair, and kids.
